Microsoft Word’s document-editing tools can help you fulfill a variety of specific document design requirements. They give you more control over individual page elements, including headers/footers and page numbers. To change a document’s page numbers, you only need to know where to find these tools on the Microsoft Word ribbon.

Change Font Format
Use the tools under the Home tab to make page number font formatting changes. Double-click the header or footer so you can edit it. Although this action automatically opens the Design tab, highlight the page number with your cursor and click the “Home” tab. Select a new font size, style or color from the formatting drop-down menus in the Font section.
Change Number Style
From the Insert tab, select Header. Word will display the Footer box with various styles. Click the style you prefer. Add in your text such as your address. If you wish to change the font, highlight your text and right-click. This will open the mini format bar. 6 Click the Insert tab and, in the Header & Footer group, choose Header→Edit Header. Or, in Print Layout view, you can quickly edit any header or footer by double-clicking its ghostly gray image. When you edit the header, Word tosses you into a special mode of operation. The header is a section of the document that appears in the top margin, while the footer is a section of the document that appears in the bottom margin. Headers and footers generally contain information such as the page number, date, and document name.
To change to a different style, such as “1, 2, 3” “-1-, -2-, -3-” or “i, ii, iii,” you need tools under the Design tab. Double-click the header or footer. Highlight the page number, click “Page Number” and then select “Format Page Numbers” to open the Page Number Format dialog box. Select a page number style from the “Number Format” drop-down menu and click “OK.”
Change Number Start
The Page Number Format box also provides the option to start a document’s page numbers on a different page. Double-click the header or footer with the current start point and select “Different First Page.” Open the Page Number Format box, type the new number for the document page where you want the page numbers to start in the “Start At” field, then click “OK.”

Pictures that you add to a Microsoft Word 2010 document can be helpful when you are writing a report that needs some visual emphasis to get its’ point across. But if you don’t have an image editing program or aren’t familiar with using one, then you might be having trouble making changes to a picture on your computer. Fortunately you can do some minor picture editing directly within Microsoft Word 2010, such as adding text to a picture. This is a simple way to add some additional information to the image and give it more relevance to the rest of the document.
Put Words on an Image in Microsoft Word 2010
Note that we are going to be adding text directly on top of the image in Word. You can also add image captions in Word 2010, but that is different than the tutorial that we will be providing below.
Step 1: Open your document in Word 2010.
Step 2: Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.

Step 4: The next step is to use the assorted tools at the top of the window to customize the appearance of the text box. For example, we are going to select the No Fill option on the Shape Fill menu to make the text box transparent.
Step 5: Use the handles on the corners and sides of the text box to adjust the shape of the box. You can also click on the border of the text box to drag it to a different location on the image. Once the text box is appropriately sized and positioned, click inside of it to add your text.
There are a lot of other ways that you can customize a picture in Word 2010 as well. For example, you can add a drop shadow to an image to give it a little style.
